Eyes Tell Their Story

Hi Fellow Cavalier Lovers!

It has already been a successful, banner year for Lucky Star -- and therefore, a WONDERFUL year for the dogs who have been saved and are now living the good life in homes filled with love and joy.  Imagine what it must feel like to these rescues to finally have the human touch they crave, food enough to fill their bellies, treats and toys galore, soft beds to sleep in, sufficient medical care to address their health issues, and attentive, loving caretakers who truly know the meaning of respect for God’s creatures. 

Unfortunately, there are many, many more Cavaliers who are still waiting for their chance at freedom.  Many, many more who need us, long for us, wait for us.  A puppy mill Cavalier’s eyes will tell his sad story – a story of neglect, abuse, fear, sickness.  Thanks to you, the stories have been rewritten for many puppy mill survivors.  If you have adopted a Lucky Star rescue, take a long, loving look into his eyes.  Do you see gratitude, security, contentment?  Oh, that all Cavaliers were blessed with those eyes!  With your continued help, we can make it so!

Lucky Star has just negotiated the release of 14 Cavaliers from a miller in the Midwest.  They will be coming out in the next week or two.

An Amish miller in Pennsylvania will be releasing the last of his Cavalier breeding stock to Lucky Star in the next few days.

Many Cavaliers purchased at auction are being vetted now and will be looking for rides and fosters by the end of the week.

Many Cavaliers wait for us in Missouri – already vetted, ready for fostering, but needing a place to go.

Many more wait for us to find them, free them, and put the spark in their eyes - the spark that speaks of a bright future and all the comforts of their very own home.

Lucky Star’s ability to free our precious Cavaliers depends upon our financial ability to do so.  We need your financial support – and we need it now!  We have many Cavaliers waiting to be vetted and we need your help to accomplish that!

One of our goals as a rescue organization is to be able to place Cavalier rescues all over the country.  Again, we need your help to accomplish that goal.  We need many foster volunteers in every area of the country.  We need volunteer transporters willing to give of their time (and gas money!) to help us get these precious rescues into foster care and adoptive homes.  Please volunteer to help in any way you can!  Fill out our online foster and transport applications.  We can immediately put you to work for the dogs!

The downcast, defeated, desolate eyes of the puppy mill Cavalier plead with you to get involved today!  Commit to changing the world today, one Cavalier at a time.  After all, it’s up to us to be the change.  It’s way too late to say, “I’ll cry about it tomorrow.”  Please, pledge your support today.

Lucky inspired a mission on earth – liberation for the many Cavaliers confined to lives of misery, loneliness, and despair in the puppy mills across America.   She touched the hearts of the first Cavalier-loving volunteers, and in so doing, ignited a rescue passion that today has enriched the lives of over 900 Cavaliers.  Lucky’s legacy of liberation lives on!

Classic “Lucky” Star, our inspiration for unwavering dedication, is surely now God’s chosen companion - when she is not on a mission, that is, as rescue emissary at the Rainbow Bridge.

PLEASE...think about becoming a foster volunteer. It is so very rewarding, and you will not regret it for a moment. The number of dogs being rescued increases all the time, and many of them come from the midwest region of our country. If you live in the midwest (or everywhere else, for that matter!!) and have not yet volunteered to be a foster home, please consider doing so...and apply today! There is a great need for your services, and I promise you will be so glad you did this!! You cannot imagine what a joy it is to see these precious dogs blossom...and the sense of satisfaction you will have for having been a part of it will stay with you forever.  We do require that our foster homes have fenced yards.

Transportation volunteers are also still needed in areas that are not yet covered, so if you would like to be a part of our transportation network, please send a message via the Contact Us button...and include your name, city, state and zip code, contact information, and how far you are willing and able to drive.
